Lewis Brander’s paintings are formed through sustained attention to light and place, developing slowly through layering and revision. Observation is translated into fields of colour that hover between representation and abstraction. Light operates as a condition rather than a motif, emerging through weather, diurnal rhythms, and the shifting illumination of the studio.
