Lewis Brander was born in London in 1995, where he lives and works.
About
Lewis Brander’s paintings unfold slowly through layering and revision. Sustained observation of light and place is translated into forms that hover between representation and abstraction. Drawing on the weathered surfaces of ancient frescoes and historical painting techniques, images gradually emerge through layers of paint and time.
Writing in ArtReview, Tom Morton notes:
“What he paints is not only space, but also time.”
